Property professionals from across the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West came together for the annual Tri-Regions Property Rugby Tournament, raising more than £15,000 for charity.

Hosted in Birmingham by Midlands Property, the tournament took place at , the home of Bournville Rugby Club, bringing together three regional teams for a highly competitive and entertaining afternoon of rugby.

While the action was intense, the focus of the day extended far beyond the results, with funds raised in support of  important charities: The Lewis Moody Trust, Wooden Spoon and Alzheimer’s Society.

The event also provided a moment of reflection, as players, organisers and spectators observed a minute’s silence ahead of kick-off in memory of former Midlands Property player Matt Gallagher, who recently passed away following a battle with motor neurone disease (MND). Matt was a valued part of the Midlands Property team and the wider rugby fraternity being an alumini of ULE and ex player at Sheffield Poly/ Hallam Uni & Coventry RFC.

On the pitch, all three sides delivered strong performances across a closely contested series of fixtures:

Midlands vs Yorkshire – 19-17 to Midlands
Yorkshire vs North West – 5-43 to North West
North West vs Midlands – 0-27 to Midlands

The North West Property rugby team, which represents professionals from across the regional property sector, was established in 2008 & since its inception, the team has played a key role in bringing the industry together while supporting charitable causes.

Anthony O’Keefe, Director of LM6 Commercial Property & Club Chairman said:

Collectively we  raised over £15,000 for  fantastic charities that are all very close to our hearts. Days like this show what the property industry is all about – collaboration, camaraderie and giving something back. The standard of rugby was excellent across all three regions, but more importantly, the support from players, sponsors and the wider network made a real difference.

Freddie Oakey (Team Manager) comments:

In terms of the rugby we fielded an excellent side with notable performances – we started strong in the first game securing the Rose Bowl but fell fowl of the format on the day where we ran out of gas v The Midlands after having to play 2 games back to back.  But we will take stock, regroup and look forward to hosting in The North West in 2027.

We thank our main sponsors Thomas Pearson at  JMW solicitors for their continued support:

With strong competition on the pitch and significant funds raised off it, the Tri-Regions Property Rugby Tournament once again demonstrated the strength of the property community and its commitment to supporting worthwhile causes. The next Tri-Regions tournament will be hosted in the North West.
