Network Space has submitted an outline planning application for the Ashtons Field Colliery, a 14-acre site in Salford that the developer is in the process of buying from the Homes & Communities Agency.
The application proposes the development of up to 200,000 sq ft of employment space at the plot on the border of Little Hulton and Walkden, which could be used for smaller warehouses or built out as one large unit.
Approval of the application, expected by the end of the year, will trigger the completion of the acquisition from the HCA.
Stephen Barnes, managing director of Network Space, said: “This planning application represents a further crucial step in advancing our development proposals for this important site. Once consented, we will be able to advance our marketing efforts at the site with the ability to accommodate enquiries across a wide range of industrial workspace sizes including up to 200,000 sq ft a single unit. We are currently working with our agents JLL and LM6 on advancing this strategy whilst continuing to work closely with Salford City Council, the HCA and other partners to ensure that the space can be brought forward as quickly as possible.”
